Any time there is a possibility for an inclement weather event, Lewisville ISD puts the concern for student and staff safety above all else when making decisions. Since each weather incident is unique, notification is made via multiple platforms, including LISD’s parent callout system Skylert, LISD websites and on social media to ensure parents, and staff have current information regarding District weather-related actions.

Recess in Extremely Hot or Cold Temperatures

Please ensure your child’s attire is seasonally appropriate.  Following are the general temperature guidelines for determining indoor or outdoor recess for students:

Hot Weather

• Students will have inside recess when the Heat Index is equal to or greater than 100 degrees
• Students will have inside recess when the Ozone Alert rating is Red
• Students will have outside recess when the Ozone Alert rating is Orange except for students with respiratory
    illness, or other illness distressed by heat

Cold Weather

• Students will have inside recess when the Wind Chill Factor is equal to or less than 34 degrees
